It you are looking for a well built and decently equipped saloon that will offer an engaging drive, then the Fiesta is your best bet. For this price, you can get a two year old diesel variant or the 1.6 litre petrol. You could also get the smaller 1.4 litre petrol, but we suggest you to avoid these as they have been discontinued and thus finding spares could be a problem. The Fiesta’s brilliant chassis, sharp steering and slick gear box make it a dream to drive. The TDCi diesel with 68bhp feels a bit underpowered with a full load, but offers good responses from low engine rpm and is frugal too. The 100bhp, 1.6 litre petrol delivers brilliant flat out performance. This is a popular car even in the second hand market, so if you chance up on one that you like, snap it up immediately.

With its PRIUS, Toyota currently dominates the domestic hybrid market in America. The popular 5 seat hatchback goes 48miles/gallon on the city roads and 45miles/gallon in Highway driving. To retain its rank at the top position in the hybrid heap, a third generation model should help. Ford Motor have also decided to release two new models for this spring to gain more traction in the hybrid field. Ford Motor’s new models “Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan Hybrids” set to be released as debut drive in US in the next 2 years. Both these cars promise to make 41miles per gallon in City driving and 36 miles per gallon in Highway driving. Ford promises to deliver Ecoboost which means small size with efficient and powerful motors. Within the next 5 years it will make about half a million Ecoboost in North America. At the same time, General Motors is working hard to captivate the position of technological leadership with its ‘Chevy Volt’ plug in hybrid. It differs from other hybrids as the driver can recharge the batteries with an Electrical Outlet. As the vehicle plan remains a challenge in cost, GM will make its first delivery in 2010 in limited numbers .The present critical economic situation makes the automakers to move back their timelines for their future products and their future model plans. Some of the models that was unveiled at North American Auto show this week, will hit the domestic market soon this year, others are not going to be released until 2011 as the world wide car market level has gone .The Asian manufacturers lost 12.5% and European Manufacturers lost 11.1 % in US. But the healthy competitions between the automakers has not stopped and the economic recession has not halted their future vehicle plans.
